FC25 Kernel 4.12.8 4.12.9 seem to crash and not reach GDM

I'm not sure what is going on but with kernels 4.12.8 and 4.12.9 the system doesn't seem to finish booting and never reaches GDM. The error message I see when I boot back into the last 4.11 kernel...

Re: dnf broken (Aborted (core dumped))

I can confirm the issue and the fact that a clean all doesn't help

system-python: /builddir/build/BUILD/hawkey-0.6.4/src/sack.c:354: load_ext: Assertion `ret == 0' failed.

I can also state...

Re: Libglvnd update broke X and/or nvidia on F24

I wonder why that version wasn't found by the dnf downgrade command? I'm glad you found a fix.

Re: No login screen after dnf update

I "think" that this might be related to the issue I had in F24: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=313886

Try doing this at the gdm failure screen, Ctrl+Alt+F2 into the console

run...

Re: Not a rant

Yep, I was hit with it when I updated to F24 a few days ago. (I always wait a couple of weeks to do so). You can try a different but similar theme and see if it helps. I switched to a different...

Re: External mic, Fedora 23, Macbook Pro 11,5

Test both inputs anyway, I currently have a mic plugged in to my F24 machine and it shows as being unplugged, but the volume meter shows activity when I talk into it...and I most certainly CAN use it.

Re: gpg-agent not working in F24

I ran into this some months back, it isn't a gpg-agent issue. The problem is the change in how recent gpg2 versions handle keys. But you can easily fix it:

cp -r ~/.gnupg ~/gpgOLD
gpg...

Re: DualShock 4 on Fedora 22?

Does it work when connected via USB? That's the first thing to check. (Mine is working fine over USB)

Re: Question: How to forward audio from Fedora 23 to a Windows machine

Did you install Pulseaudio on the windows machine? Once you do, you should be able to start up a pulse daemon on windows and then have your Linux applications output to that daemon.

Re: Die Nautilus die! FC23 - How to change to another file manager completely?

You are too lenient. Nuke it from orbit, its the only way to be sure.

You just had to remind me about gthumb.

I recommend Thunar, Rox-filer is okay, Konqueror isn't bad, and there's...

Re: Your Linux history?

My first Linux was Sony's wacky Kondara-ized Red Hat 6 based Linux for PlayStation 2, in 2002. I'd been reading Slashdot since about 2000 or so and had been reading a ton posts on it about Linux. ...

Re: And the saga continues ...

Charge her "something", but with Linux at least she won't have to come back since you could always SSH in to fix things.

Personally I'd try CentOS with XFCE on her.

Re: Update issues with mpg123 and mplayer, fedora-handbrake related.

I'm probably going to just stop using that repo and just compile handbrake from source, probably be less annoying. I just have to figure out a quick/easy way to replace the stuff with the standard...

Update issues with mpg123 and mplayer, fedora-handbrake related.

Looks like there are some issues with updating mpg123, probably due to switching from libmpg123 to mpg123-devel. This is probably an issue with the fedora-handbrake repo.

you can fix that by...

Re: F23 and .xpm type image files

I suspect the netpbm-progs package isn't installed on her desktop. Install that, and gwenview should be able to "Save as" in whatever format she needs. I just tested that out and it works just fine....
