What I need is to get the secondary SATA controller (Marvell 6145 or 88SE61xx during bootup) to work on my motherboard (D975XBX2) which has 8 ports total.
Problems started when I installed FC7, it hangs a long time trying to load pata_marvell, i got past that issue (I think using nodmraid) and installed FC7 on a SATA drive connected to the intel SATA controller.
After googling forever, I found that kernel version 2.6.23 will include support for the 6145 SATA portion of the Marvell AHC-like chips (commit and 2.6.23 Changes).
So I upgraded to 2.6.23 but still no support. But now during boot it at least shows some errors (as compared to nothing at all).
When I do "lspci" this is what it said before and after the 2.6.23 kernel
snip from /var/log/dmesgCode:03:00.0 SATA controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Unknown device 6145 (rev a1)
about halfway down there, you can see it trying to load the pata_marvell and getting a bunch of errors like "port is slow to respond, please be patient".Code:Linux version 2.6.23.1-4.fc7 (kojibuilder@xenbuilder4.fedora.phx.redhat.com) (gcc version 4.1.2 20070925 (Red Hat 4.1.2-27)) #1 SMP Fri Oct 12 20:26:14 EDT 2007
