I installed FC4 and my problem is fonts in short fonts sucks. I tried number of things from net but nothing seems to be working. If system boots by itslef and I choose KDE or gnome as wm but use terminal program konsole then fonts has stair effect. But if I use gnome terminal fonts looks OK.

Or I have seen if I start X using startx and by default GNOME comes up as wm then fonts looks OK.

I need to know how to make fonts good or remove stair effect in KDE. I used FC2 and there I never has this issue. So H/W is not an issue.

I want to only KDE not GNOME.

Please help me.

TIA

Try adjusting the font smoothingly in kcontrol.

I tried font smoothning, I tried to increase depth to 24 from 16 in xorg.conf, I tried different setting in ~/.fonts.conf
even I tried recompiling and installing freetype fonts
by changing
define without_bytecode_interpreter 1
to
define without_bytecode_interpreter 0

nothing works
