Running:
2.6.12-1.1378_FC3
wine-20050524-1fc3winehq

Installation of Starcraft via Wine was successfull--I used wine /media/pathtocdrom/install.exe
When I navigate to the "drive_c/Program Files/Games/Starcraft/starcraft.exe and type
"wine starcraft.exe" the following error is displayed. What am I missing--misedited xorg.conf, missing dlls, use another version of wine?

make sure the cd is in the drive you installed from and try running it. I think it's the copy protection error.

It is in the same drive--/media/cdrom. How can I get around this?

Some workarounds:

A) Use cedega
B) Use a No Cd crack to get around the copy protection silliness.

I ran into this same problem. It was an issue in winecfg, where my CD drive wasn't set as a CD drive type in the advanced settings. Run winecfg, and then hit the drives tab. Click the Show Advanced button, then click on the CD drive you are using. Type should be set to either CD-ROM or Autodetect. Once I set mine to autodetect, Starcraft ran no problem.
