Just curious...I saw all of the security fixes that have come out since I installed FC 4 and was wondering if "yum update" covered them.

I'm pretty sure it does since I've had many selinux updates via yum.

All updates (security & bug fixes) for the packages included in the fc4 installation media are in the "Updates Released" repository. If you have it enabled, then yum has updated your system.
