View Full Version : Username and Password Input Displayed Simultaneously At Login

I've just noticed something strange today when I started up my machine (FC4). The login screen seemed to have changed, the most obvious difference being that input boxes for both my username and password are displayed at the same time. Previously only one was displayed at a time.
I'm not enormously bothered by this, but it is certainly strange. Has anybody seen this before?
The only thing I can think of was that I installed amarok and kdelibs yesterday.

Looks like the standard KDE graphical login to me.
It's the one I see all of the time when I reboot (very seldom).

Have a look at this file as root
Open terminal

su
password input root password

open this file

<your favorite editor vi, joe, nano> /etc/sysconfig/desktop

Check the two lines contain this not KDE

DESKTOP="GNOME"
DISPLAYMANAGER=GNOME

I checked that file and it now reads

DESKTOP="GNOME"
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"

It was also modified yesterday, presumably by the kdelibs or amarok install.

I'll change it back to GNOME. Its quite annoying when installs do that kind of thing!
Thanks for your help.
