I already have my printer set up and working but when I boot the machine it says I have a printer plugged into the USB and I need to load the driver but my printer isnt on the list to choose from 2 questions.

How can I stop this from asking me?

or How can I move the current driver to where I can choose it from the list?

disable the USB-controller in the BIOS... (/kidding) ;)

can you send some more informations about the version of fedora and the printer?

I disabled the USB controller now nothing works....just kidding

Sorry, I am running FC4 and the printer is a Brother MFC5440CN. I had to go to their site to get the drivers. The printer works and I installed the scanner drivers also but that isn't working yet but that is a different issue.

I got this printer working on Linspire and Suse93.

i am not sure it will work, but it's a try. assign another driver to your printer (maybe one that is known as compatible). so FC should stop asking you. it just needs an driver, shouldn't matter wich one.

by the way: how did you get it work if not by the usuall way of hardwaredetection?

I thought about trying that but I wasn't sure if it would overwrite my current settings.

I followed the directions on the Brother site. They worked great and the printer/scanner worked right away.
