I got VMware installed, got it all working, put WindowsXP on. It was fine, I restarted and... I don't know
where the VMX is, so I can't get it running, where would I find that?

type the command ' locate *.vmx ' minus the "".

Okay, I did updatedb and located it.. It is in the root.. VMware can't open it though, I try to browse to it and
it says can not access "/root" access denied. How do I fix that?

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4714 Aug 23 13:11 vmware (Shouldn't that be good?)

If you are running vmware as a user and not root I would move it out of your root home folder and somewhere else with enough drive space for it to expand to.

There are about a half dozen files created so you will need to move all of them. This is what I would do. In the / of the drive I would create a directory called vmware. Then copy all the files for the virtual OS to /vmware. Now as root and in the / of the drive run the following commands, replace username as your username you are using.
chown -R username vmware
chgrp -R username vmware
Then makes you the owner and group owner of /vmware and all the contents in it.
