Hi,

I am building a system with Software RAID. I have two IDE connectors and I installed a PCI IDE adapter that offers me another 2. Since I wish to run all the drives in single-mode configuration on their IDE busses, I dont have a slot left to connect the CD-RW. Does anybody have suggestions, besides buying another PCI IDE adapter, for how I could connect the CD-RW to the motherboard?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
akb

By "single-mode" I assume you mean 1 drive per cable?

The options seem pretty clear.

1) Buy another PCI IED card, or upgrade to one with more ports

2) Give up on the single-mode idea and make the CD-ROM a slave on one channel.

3) Use a USB optical drive. Whether you can boot from a USB optical drive depends on your motehrboard BIOS.
