Does anyone know what SATA controllers work with FC4 kernel 2.6.11?
Thank you for fast response.

nVidia nForce 4 SATA works with HDD's under that kernel, but I still can't get my DVD burner going.

I just installed one of these (http://www.startech.com/ststore/ItemDetail.cfm?ProductId=pcisata2&mt=) yesterday, and it works great under Fedora 4 and Ubuntu Hoary. StarTech isn't exactly uber-cool, but it seems to work fine and it fit my budget.

Thanks for the response but I forgot to mention drivers for SATA RAID controllers. Has anyone
tried implementing with FC4 kernel 2.6.11 successfully?

This page will probably answer your question: http://linux.yyz.us/sata/faq-sata-raid.html

...the short form is that you will probably be using software RAID. The good news is that there's very little practical difference between Linux software RAID and hardware RAID.

my silicon image 3114 uses libata's sata_sil module, seems to work fine on centos4.1 (like fc3/rhel4) and fc4, apparently so does it's little brother the sil3112.

my intel ich5r seems to work in ide mode but not sata.

and as far as the dvd burner question - it usually requires a bios update to allow for sata optical drive support, i doubt it's a linux issue.
