View Full Version : Making port switching painless

I am trying to set up a Laptop for a user, using FC3. Here is the issue

1. When they are at home they need to connect to a wireless net work
2. At the office they connect to a hard wired LAN
3. when out side of both those locations they need to connect via Modem.
4. when out of teh office they might also connect to a variable wireless location.

what I need is an application that I can define a set of 'profiles' and the user just selects which one they want to be using. Going to the command line and typing in some command is NOT an option. These are not technical users!

Does anyone know of an application that will run FC3 that can be called during boot-up to select a 'profle', and then perhaps changed to a different profile after the machine is booted up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jim Lawrence has a few great HowTos: (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/forum/showpost.php?p=245071&postcount=7)

Check that out. You will need to provide information here concerning model number, etc. You may also hope the mod's move this to networking as it is more to the topic subject.
