I just got my new LCD monitor.
my FC3 first installed with a 17 CRT and the resolution was set to 1024*768
after i got my LCD on (resolution 1280*1024), I can not stay on the xwindow. It will turn blank and a prompt window floating around said that 1280*1024 is needed...

I can switch to txt face. I am a newbe defintely.
Can someone give me a hint that how to set the resolution under txt face.
Or guide me to a how to link.

Thank you for the help

Open a terminal:

$ su
# /sbin/telinit 3
# system-config-display
# /sbin/telinit 5

I don't think this suggestion is going to work, as the system-config-display script is graphical. In order to do it from command line, you'd probably have to manually edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. I would take a look at the monitor section.

If you aren't comfortable with this, system-config-display is easier to work with. You could try reconnecting your old monitor, open your terminal, and enter

# system-config-display
make the given changes, and then switch to the new monitor. That should work as well. All depends on which is easier for you.
