i am trying to copy a yum.conf to my ect folder and i get the error message that i dont have sufficent admin rights to write in that folder. please help

You have to be root to write any files to /etc.

Be very, very careful once you are root...you can hose your entire installation with the wrong command. I used the rm command once incorrectly and ruined an installation.

I'd recommend making a copy, moving, or renaming your existing yum.conf before you do anything.
