Always wanted to try out those cool Mono applications such as Beagle (http://www.gnome.org/projects/beagle), F-Spot (http://www.gnome.org/projects/f-spot/), iFolder (http://www.ifolder.com) or Muine Music Player (http://muine.gooeylinux.org/), now you can! There's a yum repository available for Mono 1.0.6 (stable, you can also download the development version), but it's possible to download and install the rpm packages manually.

Mono downloads page (http://www.mono-project.com/downloads/index.html)

If you want to use the yum repository for Mono 1.0.6 (stable), add the following lines to your /etc/yum.conf:

name=Mono - Fedora Compatible Packages (stable)

Why I try to install mono I get:
Error: Missing Dependency: libicuuc.so.26 is needed by package mono-core
Error: Missing Dependency: libicui18n.so.26 is needed by package mono-core
Error: Missing Dependency: libicudata.so.26 is needed by package mono-core

Do you know where these packages are?

You can eliminate that problem with libicu26-2.6.2-1.novell.9.0.i386.rpm package found here (http://www.go-mono.com/archive/1.0.5/fedora-3-i386/).

I think you will have some more dependency problems for sure. It is one big dependency hell. I have downloaded/installed about 10 packages already and there are still some more dependencies to solve. Puzzle.

Hmmm, I appreciate Red Hat's reluctance to jump on the Mono bandwagon, but is there any chance that this stuff might appear on Livna?

Or does someone just want to re-write Beagle in C? ;)
