Does anyone know how long does it take for new software get added to the official apt/yum repositories? For example, when will gphoto2 2.1.4 and FireFox 0.8 be made avaliable as updates?

Cheers.

I didn't think that Firebird was ever in the official respoitory?

Why not just go and get it yourself from Mozilla.org? Might save some time waiting.

gphoto2-2.1.4-1.i386.rpm is currently in rawhide and will be a part of test1 and eventually FC2. That doesn't mean you can't download it now in FC1 and use it - there's just no guarantee of sufficient stability levels at this stage. Just like all development packages.
Since the latest FireFox 0.8 has just been released, it takes time for external repositories to package and test it. If you don't want to wait, you could build your own RPM from the official mozilla.org sources.

I always used to get the binaries from mozilla.org and install them under "/opt/MozillaFirebird". However, since I've started using Fedora I've become rather attached to updating software using apt.

I should have mentioned also, FYI, the fedora.us site contains a yum repo with Mozilla Firebird 0.7 so I'm sure they'll have a Firefox 0.8 package available soon.

My /etc/apt/sources.list looks like this:

# Fedora Core + Extras repositories
rpm http://fedora.quicknet.nl/fedora/ fedora/1/i386 os updates stable unstable testing
rpm-src http://fedora.quicknet.nl/fedora/ fedora/1/i386 os updates stable unstable testing

rpm http://rpm.livna.org/ fedora/1/i386 stable unstable testing
rpm-src http://rpm.livna.org/ fedora/1/i386 stable unstable testing

### Dag Apt Repository for Red Hat Fedora Core 1
#rpm http://apt.sw.be redhat/fc1/en/i386 dag

# FreshRPMS
#rpm http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/1/i386 core updates freshrpms
#rpm http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/1/i386 tupdates
#rpm http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/1/i386 extras alternatives
#rpm-src http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/1/i386 core updates freshrpms
#rpm-src http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/1/i386 tupdates
#rpm-src http://ayo.freshrpms.net fedora/linux/1/i386 extras alternatives

I'd like to use the Dag and FreshRPM repositories but I was suffering from incompatibilities.
