Hi to all,

I have a fully updated F27 distro, main version (GNOME DE). I cannot install Intel Parallel Studio XE 2018 (a compiler and utilities suite). Precisely, there is a number of RPM packages. I can neither install or open them. I suspect that there i some signature format issue. Precisely, this is the error:

$ rpm --nosignature -q -p intel-vtune-amplifier-2018-sep-2018.0-525261.noarch.rpm
error: intel-vtune-amplifier-2018-sep-2018.0-525261.noarch.rpm: signature region 62: tag number mismatch il 7 ril 5 dl 658 rdl 16
error: intel-vtune-amplifier-2018-sep-2018.0-525261.noarch.rpm: not an rpm package (or package manifest)

Any clue? Thank you...

I encountered the exact same error trying to install Intel C++ ( Parallel Studio 18.0 Update 1 ) on Fedora 27. I also posted a message regarding this with no response at https://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?316691-Error-installing-Intel-C-RPM-package-in-Fedora-27.

The suggested patch to rpm-lib worked for me when I tried. I can install Intel 2018 on my Fedora 27 system
after building a new rpm from source using the patch suggeted in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1514190

Thank you. I have applied your path, rebuilded and reinstalled rpm. After that, the Intel Parallel Studio XE 2018 installation went successfully! :D

What are the steps for rebuilding and reinstalling rpm after applying the patch to rpmchecksig.c ?

What are the steps for rebuilding and reinstalling rpm after applying the patch to rpmchecksig.c ?

After you have applied the path, you can rebuild the rpm with the following command

rpmbuild -ba <specfile>

using the same specfile of the original rpm package. Then you can use
dnf reinstall in order to replace the packages installed in your system without adding new ones (rpmbuild will generate a number of rpm-related packages).
