Hello,

I am a new Linux user and I just installed Fedora 27 on an xps laptop which has no ethernet card and mounts a broadcom wifi card.
I tried to follow the directions from:
https://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?255435-Help-install-wireless-driver-without-Internet-connection

But when I try to install the rpm packages (downloaded the ones for v27) I get a list of dependencies errors.
When I download and try to install the other dependencies I get other dependencies errors which has brought me into a never ending loop of download new rpms and try to install, then to fix dependencies download other rpms and repeat.

The 3 rpms I was trying to install are:
broadcom-wl-6.30.223.271-3.fc27.noarch.rpm (http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/releases/27/Everything/x86_64/os/Packages/b/broadcom-wl-6.30.223.271-3.fc27.noarch.rpm)
akmod-wl-6.30.223.271-14.fc27.x86_64.rpm (http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/releases/27/Everything/x86_64/os/Packages/a/akmod-wl-6.30.223.271-14.fc27.x86_64.rpm)
kmod-wl-6.30.223.271-14.fc27.x86_64.rpm (http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/releases/27/Everything/x86_64/os/Packages/k/kmod-wl-6.30.223.271-14.fc27.x86_64.rpm)

The problem is that akmod has dependencies which are never ending and I am guessing that the same applies to the others to which I never got because I couldn't even fix all the dependencies for akmod.

Is there anything I can do besides buying a usb ethernet adapter hoping that that will work?

Thanks

yes, try korora (https://kororaproject.org/). you may have more joy with that than fedora which doesn't ship with proprietary blobs needed by broadcom devices.

You don't have the ability to plug into ethernet? If so, then you should be able to download akmod-wl, kmod-wl, etc

Maybe a cheap usb wifi dongle known to work with fedora? I used one that came with a raspberry pi kit once and it came right up with fedora (25 in my case). Then you'd have internet to install what you need for your new laptop built-in wifi adapter.
