Hi,

since today I my Firefox and Thunderbird installations take about a minute to start. I don't know, what to do. I tried to upgrade everything, to reboot, to start in 'safe-mode' without extensions, but nothing helps. And I don't have any clue, what can cause this. Does anyone of you have?

Thank you

Jan

How much memory do you have? Is there something on journalctl for the root user?
Check the cpu usage during running these programs.

Firefox 54.0.1 runs slow when first accessing YouTube. Then after it's fine.

Don't know if it's a YouTube or a Firefox issue.

Deactivating and uninstalling Privacy Badger helped ALOT.

Do you have extensions? Firefox and Thunderbird use common code in many areas. Firefox is introducing new security enforcements, and this does have an impact on speed.

I can't run my xmarks any longer, and since I also use LastPass, another extension, both are taboo.
Fortunately for the latter, there is a LastPass beta which is compatible (FF 56 and FF 57).
Dictionaries that I use for spell checking (French, Canadian English, and Spanish) are not in the pending FF57. Hopefully something can be done about that oversight.
