When I attempt to use gsettings I get an error:

# gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface scaling-factor 1

dconf-WARNING **: failed to commit changes to dconf: The connection is closed

How do I successfully apply the gsettings command?

You need to run the gsettings command from user account.

Sound advice. From a sudo su prompt it will not do anything. But I have reinstalled fedora 26 for the fourth time in a row now to get this far. A record beating Windows 10.

That is strange, I didn't reinstall Fedora for a long time, if ever. Not even when I've changed its physical machine. I've forgot how Anaconda works or looks like.
