Up until now I've been using the clear command to, well, clear the screen.

clear

.. but today I discovered the command's redundant as CTRL + L does the same job but faster.

On a terminal like Gnome Terminal, neither clear or Ctrl-L are entirely satisfactory as they only clear the currently displayed lines. You can scroll up to see previous lines.
The only way to fully clear Gnome Terminal is with the menu option "Terminal > Rest and Clear".

But, clear; clear works.

But, clear; clear works.

I was using clear before but find CTRL + L simpler.

Still have to use clear in PowerShell though as the shortcut keys don't work..
