Hello

I want to install the third library for vlc to read DVD's.
I downloaded the sources and run

./configure
make
make install
make clean

This works for the library dvdread.
Later I try to install a library which depends on libdvdread.
This failed because :

// ...
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for DVDREAD... no
configure: error: Package requirements (dvdread >= 5.0.2) were not met:

I did installed the lib

# whereis libdvdread
libdvdread: /usr/local/lib/libdvdread.so /usr/local/lib/libdvdread.la /usr/local/lib/libdvdread.a

I read about making rpm files from the sources but this seems to be not that easy .

Is there a good tutorial for doing so?
Maybe there is an easy way to install the sources in a way the other library can understand?

Regards,
:)

do you want to play commercial dvd media with vlc? if so, all you need to do is install libdvdcss (http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libdvdcss&submit=Search+...)

Remi's work well. just choose the right version of fedora and architecture for your system.
