Hi All,

I have a Windows customer that can't read a bunch of Adobe FrameMaker interchange format files (.MIF). He would send me an example, but he can't find his stick at the moment. We got anything that can read and/or convert an .MIF file. GIMP maybe? Eye of Gnome? Inkscape?

Many thanks,
-T

sample mif file

upon opening it I get

file EXTRACT_POLYGON.mif
EXTRACT_POLYGON.mif: ASCII text

and it opens in a text editor but I have no idea if I have lost any formatting etc

I found this link on yahoo -

https://fileinfo.com/extension/mif

They list GDAL as an application for linux, never used it, don't know if it is in the Fedora Repos.
Good Luck.

my reading of that new link is that the MIF file is a type 3 and has no Linux apps to open it.

IMHO Linux gdal appears to open only type 1.

forgive me as sometimes I have foot in mouth disease.

2) If I am right, try wine with a windows app?

Given that a .MIF is simply a text file it should be easy enough to read.
I think the real question is "What do you need to do with it?".
