Morning all,

Have a quick question regarding docky.

I've installed and used docky but can't seem to get terminal to pin to it. Any idea if this is possible please.

I had a similar problem with Plank in Cinnamon. IIRC I solved it by dragging and dropping from the menu to the dock rather than pin the open application.

Morning all,

Have a quick question regarding docky.

I've installed and used docky but can't seem to get terminal to pin to it. Any idea if this is possible please.
I dragged it to the dock from the folder: /usr/share/applications

There is one thing though, if anyone has a solution for that. :) The icon.

I replaced the icon, and that change shows up in the dock and in Cinnamon menu. But, when starting Terminal - the indicator below doesn't show - instead there is a new Terminal (with the old/original icon) added to the dock, for each new opened Terminal (incl the indicator below).

Can't seem to find what icon (& name) to add in **/pixmaps to use “my icon”.
Anyone who has a workaround?

Yes, this is annoying.
Still no good fix yet?

Hi, the solution would be to add a desktop file to either /usr/share/applications or to ~/.local/share/applications

maybe call it gnome-terminal.desktop.

and add the following content to the desktop file:
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Terminal
Comment=Use the command line
TryExec=gnome-terminal
Exec=gnome-terminal
Icon=utilities-terminal
Type=Application
X-GNOME-DocPath=gnome-terminal/index.html
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Bugzilla=GNOME
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Product=gnome-terminal
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Component=BugBuddyBugs
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Version=3.6.2
Categories=GNOME;GTK;Utility;TerminalEmulator;
StartupNotify=true
StartupWMClass=gnome-terminal
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;
Keywords=Run;
Actions=New
X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=gnome-terminal

[Desktop Action New]
Name=New Terminal
Exec=gnome-terminal
OnlyShowIn=Unity;GNOME

and make sure that file is executable: chmod +x gnome-terminal.desktop

@lordamanson
What's the difference with /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Terminal.desktop

Actually, it doesn't matter because it now seems fixed. I can just add the application to the dock.

I have no idea, but I couldn't pin it in the dock without having gnome-terminal.desktop there. If I remove gnome-terminal.desktop I can't pin. If I add it I can pin both! crazy stuff huh :C
