View Full Version : Update in Fedora Kernel removed Wi-Fi

8th March 2014, 09:57 AM
I am using Fedora for the past 3 years.
I had no issues so far, but after a recent kernel upgrade in my Fedora 20, I found that my broadcom driivers are not working

I have checked the installation of related applications, files, drivers... all are installed.
However wi-fi network is not enabled

The related screen-shots are attached here to this message

Please help me to resolve this

Instead of kmod-wl I have installed akmod-wl which is not effective.

I got fed-up as I was not getting help
I did some thing, which clicked..

I downloaded Kernel 3.11-10-301 from RPM search
I also downloaded related kmod-wl and kmod-virtualbox

I installed the kernel using yum localinstall
Then rebooted the system and logged into the old kernel

Using the same yum localinstall I installed the two files
Then rebooted the system, now wi-fi is working well.
VirtualBox also works well

Then I went and edited yum.conf to exclude kernel* and kmod*
Hope I would not face the problem again.
