Hello everyone
Can anybody help me find out why I cannot get the KDE login manager to show up.

When the system starts I can see the message Starting "KDE login manager: Ok", then the screen goes to graphics for a second and finally switches back to text.

I can then login from a tty terminal, execute startx and everything works fine.

Thanks in advance
Athanassios

Have a look in /var/log/messages and /var/log/X* for errors.

Hello it turned out the actual error was in var/log/messages and looked like this

Sep 30 18:43:08 hades accounts-daemon[413]: ** (accounts-daemon:413): CRITICAL **: error getting polkit authority: Error initializing authority: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1: Timeout was reached

Doing a little bit of googling ended (https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/test/2013-January/113331.html) with me performing

# yum reinstall polkit\* upower
# reboot
and the issue was resolved

Thanks a lot
Athanassios
