I've been scouring the internet for a possible solution to this problem to no avail. I'm trying to get audible alarms to sound on IBM's 5250 emulator. It apparently calls XBell() when it encounters such an event. I was able to get this working on a computer with a built-in PC speaker, but I am currently attempting this on a miniature PC that doesn't have one.

I stumbled across XKBBell in XKBUtils which, in fact, does work in the regular terminal environment (backspaces, Control+G, etc.) provided that I run these two commands for pulseaudio:

pactl upload-sample /usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo/bell.oga bell.ogg
pactl load-module module-x11-bell sample=bell.ogg

xset q reports the bell has the default value 50/400/100

I did install the pulseaudio-module-x11.

I'm currently using Fedora 19 (Gnome) with X.org, Metacity and Pulseaudio installed.

Any help would be much appreciated, I'm at a total loss.
