View Full Version : force network manager to prefer eth0 over wlan if both present

Hi folks, I haven't found a way to tell network manager that it should prefer the ethernet connection over wifi if both are available. Is it possible?

I'm using fedora 17 now with its stock network manager. In the past I remember older version did behave in the way I like, i.e. picked eth0 over wlan, but not any more in the current version.

I would have thought thats default behaviour.
Try disabling the wlan device (right click on the NM icon in systray).

Unfortunately this is not the default behavior.

And yes, I could disable the wireless, but I'd much prefer if I could tell network manager once (for example in some config file) that it should automatically pick the ethernet cable if present. That way I wouldn't have to always open it and click on eth0 when there is a wifi signal around which I don't want to use.

Is that possible?
