FYI

From F18 you will be able to groupinstall cinnamon desktop.

su
yum install @cinnamon-desktop

This also means you can do a custom install with the DVD media.
The cinnamon-desktop is very lean, just basics eg: firefox and system tools.

See what I mean

I will be very happy if i could just get a Fedora cinnamon spin CD too, So that I don't have to download a gnome CD and remove all the cruft.

Looks like your package dependencies are very lean. I like it!

I am very glad to see that ABRT is not there. :D

Leigh, I thought cinnamon pulled nemo as a dependency a couple of days back on F18. Is that how it is going to be? GNOME-Shell will also be installed for cinnamon to work right.

They don't have to co-exist.
But having nemo would be great for cinnamon !

That is correct.

gnomes-hell isn't needed.

I did a netinstall from beta TC4 and chose Cinnamon as the desktop. Installed perfectly. Only ~850 packages in default setup as against ~1000 packages for GNOME Desktop (I have not tried the others).

Thanks for the great work, Yellowman! :) :thumb:

There won't be an official Cinnamon spin for F18 as it didn't make the spin deadline, but there might well be one for F19. It would be possible to do an unofficial unbranded one, though.

Note that MATE got added at the same time as Cinnamon, so that's available now too. Send bug reports to Dan Mashal :)

yellowman: I fixed up some problems in the cinnamon groups stuff in comps a few days back, hope I got it right.

I noticed after installing Mate (mate-desktop) that Mate is not appearing as a option under "session" at the login screen.

Did you use groupinstall?

It needs to be a requirement for mate-panel

You nailed the cause of the issue,
I just went through the my history and I did not use group install

Sorry for the aggravation and thank you for the help :)
