If you had set the root password during installation, forget about it! It will not be carried over to your installation. This is a known bug.

What is needed is to boot to single user mode and change the root password. Single user mode link - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_reset_a_root_password

Once you have changed the root password this way, you should be able to run yum or perform any other administrative task.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Yea, I had to do that on my last install.

I set the root password, and when I rebooted after the install, all I got when I tried to log in as root was "invalid password"

So, boot to single mode, and run passwd to reset it, and I was good to go.

I was thinking that in my case, I use short passwords on my test boxes, and the one I used was less than 7 characters. I got warnings when I tried to set it in single user mode... I was thinking that had something to do with the installer not setting it correctly, but now I am uncertain if it had anything to do with it or not.
