WiFi does not work: Intel Centrino Advanced N 2230 wifi chipset (For Dell Inspiron or other laptop):

Fedora 17 default install does not recognize this WiFi chipset because it does not include the needed WiFi firmware. Do the following to enable the firmware:

Enable your laptops wired RJ45 connection to connect to the Internet.
Once connected, update your system by running the following as root:
yum update

After update, run this as root:
yum install iwl2030-firmware

Reboot and you should now see your WiFi connection available on the top right of your desktop.

Configure WiFi for your wifi router

Oh yea this happens to me every time I first install F17. It is an issue with wireless n on the intel chips. The way I fix it temporarily on my pc...

sudo rmmod iwlwifi
sudo modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1

or if your using the iwlagn driver switch it out in place of iwlwifi. If that works you can update to fix the problem. Just in case someone else out there does not have Wired connection for some reason.
