Beacuse when I did it, I got a seg fault and couldn't boot any longer so I removed it and fell back to 8.0.3. It seemed to install just fine, all the modules built properly (or so I thought) but when I went to turn on the virtual machine I seg faulted, and then every time I tried to start my laptop it crashed on boot. Until I removed it.

there is a known issue (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showpost.php?p=1599022&postcount=4) already discussed on.

Have you been able to try the patch? I know there were lot's of problems with Workstation 8.

How about VMware Player 5?
I work with it on Fedora 17 without any problem.
But I use kernel 3.4.6-2.fc17.i686.PAE due to problem kernels 3.5.x and my ATI Mobility Radeon.
