I am running gnome 3 under Fedora 17. I pretty much understand how to use it and I've added gnome tweak tool and a couple of extensions. But one thing I miss from the old gnome 2 interface is the ability to retirieve a minimized window with a single click. If I minimize a window now, it disappears from the screen and to bring it back I need to click on activities which shows the applications now active in that window, including any that I've minimized. If I then click on one of them, I get it back. Under the old gnome, I had some number of workspaces which I could switch among and anything minimized showed up in the appropriate workspace. A single mouseclick would bring it up.

How do I arrange to do what I want?

Try this shell extension in Panel mode https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/105/panel-docklet/
