Hi Guys

I have Fedora 2 installed on my machine. My machine has an Intel 82801 BA/BAM AC'97 sound card. I got mplayer installed successfully. But when I play a DVD with the Mplayer, I can see the video but no sound. Please note that Xmms works great. With Xmms I am able to play all my .wav and .mp3 files fine. What could be the problem? All pointers are welcome.

Thanks in advance.
Shashi

By default, all sound channels are muted. To fix this, run amixer:

# amixer set Master 100 unmute
# amixer set PCM 100 unmute
(Only if the above isn't sufficient:)
# amixer set Center 100 unmute
# amixer set Surround 100 unmute

I was able to solve the problem.

I used the following command

mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /mnt/cdrom -ao sdl

instead of

mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /mnt/cdrom

and it did the trick!

-ao stands for audio options and all I did was use a different driver for the sound card instead of the ALSA.
