I use gkrellm and korn to check my mail in KDE. I want to get more CLI capable, though, and am trying to do more stuff in the terminal without the X session present. I have pine and mutt installed in FC2. How can I just check (not read) email from a console??

You may find this useful: cat $MAIL | grep -c ^Message-

This (http://www.usinglinux.org/mail/chk4mail.html) may be more to your liking though.

How would I use that command or check4mail to check my pop3 mail on the web every 30 secs (I would think I have to define the username, password and host)?
