View Full Version : X doesn't start with VirtualBox 4.0.4 Guest Additions

23rd March 2011, 11:49 PM
This was after I did a yum update (but I had to uninstall LibreOffice because it has dependency problems for now), and then rebooted, and then installed the Guest Additions. Now, when booting, I get stuck with the text-mode progress bar -- but I can go to the text consoles with Alt-F2, Alt-F3 etc.

Then I do an "init 3", then startx, and this is the output. My kernel is <2.6.38-1.fc15.i686>.

Did you install the following components following your yum update?

kernel-devel kernel-headers dkms gcc gcc-c++

Try this.
Newer VirtualBox Guest Addition. This worked for me with Fedora 15 Alpha.
