I would like to know if there is a program or feature that would allow users to login for a certain amount of time only. Then aout after a given time it should log them out. This would be used to a computer lab or internet cafe.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

I think this is what you want - check out the examples in /etc/security/time.conf

Would they all be "guests" that can share an account or do you need to log people in?

Alas, Jman - like superbnerd before him, advisor's status has taken him out of the fold. Gee, they had a lot in common too.
Anyway, if you read the examples it seems that you can set limits for groups of users or their terminals - would be useful for sysadmin's to make sure that all terminals were shut down to allow for system wide updates and other security concerns.
