I have posted my alsa info at http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=f3556a1cb1ce65bcfe294c9a06cf768164d60681

Currently I have no sound playing flash video in firefox and playing CDs through digital audio does not work either. I can get sound out of my TV tuner card using "sox --buffer 2048 -r 32000 -t alsa hw:1,0 -t alsa hw:0,0".

Sound was working fine before I upgraded from Fedora 11. I'm getting very frustrated trying to fix this, almost to the point of going back to my F11 setup.

Not sure if there is any relation to the problem but I have the kmod-nvidia module from rpm fusion installed and working OK. Gnome is working well but if I try to use KDE it takes over 10 minutes for the desktop to start responding and things are so slow overall it is unusable :-(

Some help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

If sound playback works with 64-bit applications but not the 32-bit flash plugin then you need to install alsa-lib.i686

I couldn't get the sound or KDE working properly and finally gave up and restored my F11 setup - all good now apart from having to use the sox workround to access sound from my tuner card. I have given up on "nice to have" upgrades - life is too short!

Generally you should try alsamixer of pavucontrol
