Updated for Fedora 14

I found lots of pepole who belongs to India and using BSNL Data card wants to connect Internet from fedora so I thought post a thread which will help all how are using BSNL EVDO Data Card.
At first click on application - System Tools - Terminal
enter the following code on your terminal

Updated part starts here
When I was using Fedora 10 I post this thread on that time gedit worked properly with "su"
Now here if you are using Fedora 14 and by using su gedit is not appearing then try

su -

instaed of only "su" hope gedit will work properly. If dose not work then you can follow the next post instructions. Or you can ask in the forum for help
I am updating "su" by "su -" If you are using earlier version you can try by only "su" or "su-" if none of this works then follow next post. Just remember you have do this in a single terminal and step by step to avoid maximum uses of "su" or "su -"
Updated part ends here

su -

enter your root password and press enter
now

lsusb

If you enter this you can see some prompt in your terminal like this

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 058f:6387 Alcor Micro Corp. Transcend JetFlash Flash Drive
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 19d2:fffe ONDA Communication S.p.A.
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

now write this

gedit /etc/wvdial.conf

after entering this code and pressing enter a new window will open.

[Dialer Defaults]

modem=/dev/ttyUSB0
Baud=460800
Dial Command=ATDT
Baud=115220
Dial Command=ATDT
init1=ATZ
init2=AT+CRM=1
Flow Control=Hardware (CRTSCTS)
Username=(your user id)
Password=(your password)
Phone=#777
Stupid Mode=1

Mow copy and paste on the window above codes then save and exit window.
Now enter this code

gedit /etc/ppp/options

and press the enter. After this again a new window will open. Probably their you just need to be add a "#" only it wil be look like below

#lock

now save an exit the window
Now type below code and press enter

wvdial

After entering this you can see some thing like below in your terminal

--> primary DNS address 218.248.255.161
--> pppd: 6

--> pppd: 6

Now press crtl+c twice and you will be disconected.
In above there are two ips as DNS address remember you will need that on your next step. So write those two ips in a separate file.
Now you need to enter again below following code in your terminal

gedit /etc/resolv.conf

after this a new window will open. here you need to do some addition by your self. Enter the following code with your dns server ip. It will look like this

nameserver 218.248.241.6(In here you need do place your dns server ip what you found in your terminal before}

now save and exit file.
Now your Data card is ready to connect. you can connect it by the following command

wvdial

After that you do not need to do whole steps every time when you connecting data card just do as below
login your root account by

enter your rot password
then type

wvdial

and press the enter
after login your terminal you show some thing like this

--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60

AT+CRM=1
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATDT#777
--> Waiting for carrier.
ATDT#777
CONNECT
--> Carrier detected. Starting PPP immediately.
--> Starting pppd at Fri Oct 22 06:33:35 2010
--> Pid of pppd: 3263
--> pppd: 6
--> Using interface ppp0
--> pppd: 6
--> pppd: 6
--> pppd: 6
--> pppd: 6
--> local IP address 117.254.228.246
--> pppd: 6
--> remote IP address 192.168.52.12

--> primary DNS address 218.248.255.161
--> pppd: 6
--> secondary DNS address 218.248.241.6
--> pppd: 6

One thing you have to remember do not close the terminal. If you do it then there will be chances that you can be disconnected. If you want to disconnect your data card just press crtl+c and you will be disconnected. After disconnection you can see some thing like below in your terminal

^CCaught signal 2: Attempting to exit gracefully...
--> Terminating on signal 15
--> pppd: 6

You may face some problem while you trying to install your Data card on Fedora 14
gedit command may not run properly.But there is a solution for this that's why I am adding a post. Simply open gedit test editor or kwirter from accessories.
Copy the Command below and paste it in your editor

[Dialer Defaults]

modem=/dev/ttyUSB0
Baud=460800
Dial Command=ATDT
Baud=115220
Dial Command=ATDT
init1=ATZ
init2=AT+CRM=1
Flow Control=Hardware (CRTSCTS)
Username=(your user id)
Password=(your password)
Phone=#777
Stupid Mode=1

save the file as "wvdial.conf". (Save the file name with out quotation.) Save the file in your desktop it will be easy for you for next procedure.
Now again open text editor and paste the code given below

#lock

save the file as "options" in your desktop.
Now Go to Application then System Tools and Open Terminal. And enter the following Commands.

su
cd Desktop
mv wvdial.conf /etc/
mv options /etc/ppp/
wvdial

after this you will something like this

--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
--> Cannot get information for serial port.
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
ATZ
OK
--> Sending: AT+CRM=1
AT+CRM=1
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATDT#777
--> Waiting for carrier.
ATDT#777
CONNECT
--> Carrier detected. Starting PPP immediately.
--> Starting pppd at Fri Oct 22 06:33:35 2010
--> Pid of pppd: 3263
--> pppd: 6
--> Using interface ppp0
--> pppd: 6
--> pppd: 6
--> pppd: 6
--> pppd: 6
--> local IP address 117.254.228.246
--> pppd: 6
--> remote IP address 192.168.52.12
--> pppd: 6
--> primary DNS address 218.248.255.161
--> pppd: 6
--> secondary DNS address 218.248.241.6
--> pppd: 6

Now press crtl+c twice.
In here you will need the two DNS addresses note that.
Now Again go to your text editor and paste the code and your DNS address like below

nameserver 218.248.255.161 (In here you need do place your dns server ip what you found in your terminal before)
nameserver 218.248.241.6(In here you need do place your dns server ip what you found in your terminal before}

Now save the file as "resolv.conf" close the file.
Now again Go to your terminal and paste the code below

mv resolv.conf /etc/

Now your Data card is ready to use. To connect go to your System Terminal enter the Following Codes

su
wvdial

and to Disconnect your Data card press Crtl+c twice and you will be Disconnected.
NOTE:- Do not Close the terminal of wvdial while you are using Internet. If you do you will be disconnected.
