Hi, What is the difference between the two identical directories in F13 (/etc/init.d and /etc/rc,d/init.d/) and (/etc/rc?.d/ and /etc/rc.d/rc?.d)

I know about run levels, I want to know what the difference between the two are. If placing a script in one init directory will it work, or if u have to place it in both. Same with the rc init scripts about placing in one or the other or both.
