It's Test Day time once again. This time I'm just passing along the announcement from Tim Waugh, who's done a great job of organizing the event.

There will be a Printing Test Day (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2010-03-25_Printing) this Thursday, 2010-03-25. Have access to a printer? Please come along and join in!

This is an opportunity to try out the new automatic printer driver installation feature (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/AutomaticPrintDriverInstallation) in Fedora 13, as well as to give the printing system a bit of an exercise.

For the automatic printer driver installation to work properly we need your Device IDs! Many IDs are missing for current printers, and some existing IDs are incorrect. You can help fix this by running following the instructions in the test day page.

You don't need a Rawhide installation to provide useful feedback, just a nightly live image (http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/nightly-composes/desktop/) will do.

The Test Day will run all day in Freenode IRC #fedora-test-day.

Tim.

quick question:

should we post bugs/results for printer/scanner combos (such as the HP Photosmart C3180) or are they not targeted for this test day?

Please post results for the printer part of such combo devices to the test day, yup. The test day isn't really covering scanners, but if you hit bugs with the scanner part, please do file 'em!

Just a quick reminder - this event is going on right now, folks! Come along and help out, we haven't had too many people testing so far :(

Seems that the nightly build is just a tiny bit too large to fit into 1 gig USB key.
Though liveusb-creator reports

[creator:544] Verifying filesystem...
[creator:245] freebytes = 994951168
[creator:246] isosize = 980418560
[creator:248] overlaysize = 0

df -k during the install:

Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sdb1 971632 217184 754448 23% /media/FEDORA
/dev/loop0 957102 957102 0 100% /tmp/tmpLLEWnm

Both of the above indicate that there is enough space in the USB key.
Ie. Freebytes > isosize and /dev/sdb1 > /dev/loop

cp: writing `/media/FEDORA/EFI/boot/vmlinuz0': No space left on device

Second try running liveusb creator comes up with:

Not enough free space on device.
935MB ISO + 0MB overlay > 934MB free space

Any workarounds for that?

sorry for the belated reply - not really, AFAIK. You could test with the Xfce or LXDE spins, perhaps?
