Howdy,

Is there anyway to tell NetworkManager to not log so many messages to the system log?

There appears to be a bazillion <info> messages in the log file (/var/log/messages). It makes
it hard to find any potential problem areas...

thanks,

Jerry

.I "\-\-no-daemon"
Do not daemonize. This is useful for debugging, and directs log output to the
controlling terminal in addition to syslog.

Here is a hack.
Go to /etc/rc.d/init.d/ and copy the NetworkManager file:

su -
cp /etc/rc.d/init.d/NetworkManager /etc/rc.d/init.d/NwtorkManager.backup

Then open the NetworkManager init file and add the "--no-daemon".
I'm not quite sure where but I'm guessing the following should work.

echo -n $"Starting NetworkManager daemon: "
daemon --check $servicename $processname --pid-file=$pidfile --no-daemon
RETVAL=$?
echo

UPDATE: The init thing won't work I failed to read the part "in addition to syslog" part sorry my fault.

In red is the part I added, did not test it and don't know if it works.

Another way of doing that is going to rc.local and putting there

/sbin/service NetworkManager stop
NetworkManager --no-daemon 2> /dev/null
