View Full Version : speed up device discovery on boot

I'm trying to make an instant-on Fedora installation for automotive use. I am using the Fedora 12 XFCE spin hard drive install, and right now it takes about 30 seconds from power on to desktop with mostly all services disabled. I have heard that device discovery can take up a lot of initialization time, and as I have a static hardware configuration, I would like to modify my installation to know exactly what my hardware is rather than probing and trying to discover everything. Is this possible? Can anyone refer me to a guide or explain how this is done. I've searched a little bit and can't find anything helpful. Thanks.
