View Full Version : /var/lib/yum/yumdb is filling root partition

The F12 update of yum created a new entity call yumdb in the /var/lib/yum directory which is used to roll back updates, etc. Unfortunately, it has filled my root partition. I have been unable to find any documentation as to how to reduce it's size or clean it up. "yum clean dbcache" didn't do it and there isn't any new option on the "yum" man page.

Does any one have any ideas? I don't want to just use "rm" without knowing what I'm doing unless there's no alternative. Does this data base just keep growing indefinitely?

I have the same issue on F17. Between /var/lib/yum and /var/cache/yum they've used up almost 5GB.
