I'm brand new to Fedora (was a Ubuntu user, so I know a bit about Linux in general, but Fedora is confusing me), and one of the first problems I'm having is that none of my AVI files will play. I've tried in Kaffeine, which is the player I'm used to, and the Dragon player that I found preinstalled. Both of them do nothing. It says that the movie is playing, but there's no video, no audio, and the time skips about 3 minutes per second. I can't figure out what codecs are installed, or how to install new ones. Help?

Hopefully a fellow KDE user will give you a more concrete answer, I stick to Gnome so not sure which backend those players are using but this should get you started, go here

http://rpmfusion.org/Configuration

and enable both the 'free' and 'non-free' repos, then install some codecs with

su -c 'yum install gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly xine-lib-extras-freeworld k3b-extras-freeworld -y'
If you're tight on space then try with just

su -c 'yum install xine-lib-extras-freeworld -y'
first and see if that works, but if space/bandwidth are not an issue just grab them all since a lot of different programs can make use of them.
