View Full Version : F12 gnome-terminal and konsole launching infinite bashs

17th January 2010, 08:49 PM
I've recently fresh-installed Fedora 12. I have just started experiencing an issue when launching both gnome-terminal and konsole: I never get the $ prompt. If I go to a character-based tty and do a 'ps -ef', I see that there are hundreds of bash processes, and the number keeps increasing. Killing the gnome-terminal or konsole process kills all of the bash processes.

I can log into the system on the tty without any issues. Also, this just started happening; this wasn't a problem prior to today. I did try to change the working directory for the gnome-terminal icon (but not konsole). Changing it back was no help.

Launching the programs from Dophin didn't help, either.

Frankly, I'm at a loss as to where to look for clues as to what is happening. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm using the KDE desktop, if it matters...

Thanks for the help,
