Well I’m stumped.

I’m using F12
I’ve done and checked the following...

*************************************************
1) Built and Installed pvm on two pc’s. (It worls, I can get the pvm console)

pvm>

2) Configured my .bash_profile on both pc’s

# User specific environment and startup programs
PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin

PVM_ROOT=/usr/share/pvm3
PVM_ARCH="LINUX"
PVM_RSH=/usr/bin/ssh
PVM_DPATH=/usr/share/pvm3/lib
PATH=$PVM_ROOT/bin:$PATH:$PVM_DPATH

#make these variables available for use in the shell
export PVM_ROOT PVM_ARCH PVM_RSH PVM_DPATH

3) Setup ssh for passwordless logon from pc-1 to pc-2
It works I can ssh without using a password to pc-2 and also execute commands

4) Checked my /etc/hosts file

# hostname localhost.localdomain added to /etc/hosts by anaconda
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6 localhost.localdomain
192.168.1.8 linux-cluster-1
192.168.1.100 node1-0

5) Checked my $HOME/.rhosts file

linux-cluster-1 user
node1-0 node1-0

BUT... When I run pvm and try to add a host it’s always asking me for a password !

Like This ...

[user@linux-cluster-1 ~]$ pvm
pvm> conf
conf
1 host, 1 data format
HOST DTID ARCH SPEED DSIG
linux-cluster-1 40000 LINUX 1000 0x00408841
pvm> add node1-0
add node1-0
user@node1-0's password: (NOTE: THIS IS THE PROBLEM)

************************************************** **

QUESTION:

Can anyone offer any help on this, I can’t find any instructions
on how to deal with this problem.

Thanks for the help,
