I've tried installing Wireshark. First I used yum. Then I reinstalled with yum. Then I uninstalled and installed with yum. Finally, I downloaded the source from Sourceforge and try configuring it. It failed to configure.

When I installed through yum, yum claimed to it worked, but there was nothing in bin/ or sbin/. I tried to tabbing w and it wasn't there as a command. What should I do? I need this for a class.

Hello altNull and welcome to the forum,

If you are using gnome you will need the wireshark-gnome package along with the wireshark package.

Thx for you help. Question: Why is that yum doesn't just install wireshark-gnome?

It's not a strictly needed dependency. Wireshark can be run from the command line IIRC.
