I just get these messages in /var/log/mail/root

--------------------- Kernel Begin ------------------------

WARNING: Segmentation Faults in these executables
nm-applet : 1 Time(s)
nvidia-config-d : 5 Time(s)

WARNING: Kernel Errors Present
EXT4-fs error (device sdb): ex ...: 4 Time(s)
end_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector ...: 4 Time(s)
sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Unhandled error code ...: 4 Time(s)

---------------------- Kernel End -------------------------

The problem is the /dev/sdb. It keeps bangin noise (like the R/W heads banging).
The disk is Seagate Barracuda LowPower 1.5TB 5900RPM SATA2 32M (ST31500541AS)
I have not have problems with read or write so far.

The /dev/sdc is Samsung 750 GB SATA 2 (HD753LJ) with no problems.

So, is the problem with Kernel or is the disk going to die?

Any ideas?

I would suggest to enable the smart function in your bios and start the smartd daemon. run 'smartctl /dev/sdb' to check and observe your disk status for a while. rw heads banging doesnt sound good at all  backup your data from that hdd asap.
