Hi All,

I am using fedora 9 and want to install VLC player. So anyone tell me how to install VLC or other software's using command line interface.

There should be a a VLC package. If you mean the commands to install something in the repositories, then it's just

yum install vlc


and it will download the binary and its depedencies, then install them for you.

If you mean sourcecode tarballs, then it always depends. You need the development tools, kernel sources and that sort of thing. Usually, once you unpack the tarball, it will have a README, INSTALL, or both, telling you what to do. Most common is

./configure && make && make install
