Experiencing No Sound Through On-Board Computer Speakers And Barely Audible Sound At Maximum Volume Through Headphone/Line Out.

Using Fedora 10 2.6.27.12-170.2.5 ... Using All Of The Latest ALSA Support Drivers/Libraries 1.0.19

Hardware Identified As Intel High Definition ALC883 Audio But Windows (As Well As My Hardware Documentation) Defines Hardware As RealTek High Definition Audio ALC889A

AlsaMixer shows ALL sliders (including hidden sliders) un-muted and at full volume. (no external volume control

Sound functions properly, including On-Board speakers using XP with RealTek Audio Codec.

RealTek Support for this device is a package containing ALSA 1.0.19 Drivers... i compiled the most recent test versions of the alsa-driver but the issue has not been resolved.

Issue is resident Using Fedora 11 Beta / Fedora 11 Preview / Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop / OpenSuse 11.1

If you don't have it already install PulseAudio Volume Control. When you check it you will probably find it is set low. This worked for me on 2 different systems.

If that doesn't work do a search for similar threads (there are many) as there are other fixes for some audio chips.
